Easily Copy Blocks Between Sections and Pages in Squarespace
If you’ve ever needed to move content blocks between sections or even across different pages in Squarespace, you may have noticed that dragging blocks doesn’t work across sections. By default, Squarespace only allows you to duplicate blocks within the same section, but what if you need to reuse the same design elsewhere?
Luckily, there’s a quick keyboard shortcut that makes copying and pasting blocks simple and efficient. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to copy blocks from one section to another and even move them across different pages—without manually recreating them.

Why Copy Blocks Instead of Recreating Them?
Copying blocks instead of rebuilding them from scratch saves time and ensures consistency across your website. This is useful for:
Duplicating layouts across multiple sections (e.g., repeating service features, testimonials, or pricing tables).
Reusing button designs, text blocks, or images without manually re-entering content.
Transferring pre-designed sections to different pages without extra work.
Since dragging blocks across sections isn’t possible in Squarespace, using a keyboard shortcut is the best way to move content efficiently.
Step-by-Step: How to Copy Blocks to Other Sections in Squarespace
Step 1: Select the Blocks You Want to Copy
Enter Edit Mode on the page where the block is located.
Click on the first block you want to copy.
Hold down Shift and click additional blocks if you want to select multiple.
✔ This works with text blocks, image blocks, button blocks, and more.
Step 2: Copy the Selected Blocks
Once your blocks are selected, press:
Command + C on Mac
Control + C on Windows
This will copy the blocks to your clipboard, ready to be pasted into a different section.
Step 3: Paste the Blocks into a New Section
Scroll to the section where you want to place the copied blocks.
Click inside the section to activate it.
Press:
Command + V on Mac
Control + V on Windows
Your copied blocks will immediately appear in the new section, keeping their original formatting.
Step 4: Copy Blocks Across Different Pages
Want to use the same content block on another page? No problem! You can paste blocks on a completely different page using the same shortcut.
How to Paste Blocks on Another Page
Navigate to the page where you want to add the copied blocks.
Add a blank section (this step is optional but keeps things organized).
Click inside the new section and press Command + V (Mac) or Control + V (Windows).
Your blocks will now appear on the new page without any manual re-entry.
Why This Shortcut is a Game Changer
Squarespace doesn’t actively promote this copy-paste shortcut, but it’s an incredibly useful trick that can save a ton of time. Instead of recreating content or struggling to drag blocks across sections, you can simply copy and paste them wherever you need.
✔ Works for text, images, buttons, and more
✔ Saves time by eliminating manual re-creation
✔ Keeps consistent formatting across your site
Final Thoughts
Copying blocks between sections or pages in Squarespace is a huge time saver when designing your website. Whether you need to reuse a testimonial, duplicate a pricing table, or move an image block, this shortcut makes it quick and easy.
