How to Add Google reCAPTCHA to Your Squarespace Contact Forms
If you’ve ever received spam messages through your Squarespace contact forms, you know how frustrating it can be. The good news? Google reCAPTCHA helps block spam submissions and ensures that only real visitors can fill out your forms.
In the past, adding Google reCAPTCHA required site keys and secret keys, making the process more complicated. But with the latest update to reCAPTCHA v3, enabling it in Squarespace is super easy—no extra setup required.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you step-by-step how to add Google reCAPTCHA to your contact forms to help keep spam out and improve security on your site.

Step 1: Open Your Contact Form in Edit Mode
Log in to your Squarespace website and navigate to the page with your contact form.
Click Edit Page to enter edit mode.
Click on your contact form and click the Pencil Icon to open the form settings.
This will bring up the Form Block settings, where you can manage form fields, storage, and other advanced settings.
Step 2: Enable Google reCAPTCHA
In the Form Block settings, click the Storage tab.
Scroll down until you see the option for Google reCAPTCHA.
By default, it will be turned off—click where it says Off, and then it will take you to the next screen with the toggle switch to turn it on.
That’s it! Google reCAPTCHA is now active on your form, helping to filter out spam submissions automatically.
How Google reCAPTCHA Works in Squarespace
With Google reCAPTCHA v3, visitors won’t need to check a box or solve image puzzles (like selecting all the traffic lights or bridges). Instead, it runs in the background and analyzes user behavior to detect bots.
No verification emails needed for form submissions.
No frustrating image tests for visitors.
More user-friendly while still blocking spam effectively.
This means that enabling reCAPTCHA adds an extra layer of security without making the form harder to use.
